weird sisters

Spinning creation, technique and ingenuity together are at the heart of Cheryl’s acrobatic performances. Whether creating experimental acts or utilizing her four plus years of aerial experience at circus schools around the globe, she defies gravity with style as she twists and turns to the sounds surrounding her. Cheryl strives to foster growth and evoke inspiration with her performances and within her instruction for students at FlipSpot Gym, Agora and when visiting other studios as a guest instructor. While her greatest desire may be teaching aerial acrobatics, the joy of flight and building routines shine vibrantly when she takes to the air! Cheryl is a founding member and performs regularly with The Weird Sisters Circus at private, educational, and corporate events including the International Children’s Games, Theatre Bizarre, The Detroit Auto Show, MakerFaire, and NBA Halftime shows.

With a background in music and dance, Sarah fell in love with aerial at first flip. She trained on silks, hammock, trapeze, and lyra for two years in Detroit. In 2011 she began performing with the Weird Sisters Circus at events including The North American International Auto Show, Ferndale’s DIY Fair, the Ann Arbor Art Fair, The Detroit Pistons halftime shows, and Theatre Bizarre. She taught previously at the Detroit Academy of Kinesthetic Arts in Detroit and now shares her love of flying at Agora Arts in Ferndale, MI. Sarah’s passion for teaching aerial arts stems from its unique ability to build self-confidence at the same time her students gain strength and flexibility.

Irina first studied aerial silks with a former Cirque Du Soleil performer in 2007. In 2010 she studied solo and duo trapeze, lyra, aerial silks, and aerial hammock for two years. She began her professional career as an aerial performer when booked to perform duo trapeze at an annual internationally acclaimed art show in Detroit in the Spring of 2011. Taking her love for the arts further, Irina helped establish The Detroit Academy of Kinesthetic Arts, a community circus space in Detroit, where she discovered her biggest circus passion: teaching. Irina now shares her knowledge and passion at Agora Arts in Ferndale, MI in hopes of inspiring all of her students to find their own style and strength within the art of aerial acrobatics
