Top Prize winner at the Texas National Music Festival’s “Classical Minds” competition, guitarist Matt is a highly sought after performer based in the San Francisco Bay area. Recently, Matt has performed across the country at venues such as Barshinger Hall at Franklin & Marshall College, the John Marlow Guitar Series in Washington D.C., a sold-out appearance at the historic Fayetteville Theatre in West Virginia, and has had his performances featured on WITF Radio Harrisburg as well as the San Francisco News. In addition to performing, Matt has also composed and recorded music for several apps and films, including work funded by the American Film Society.

From 2009-2012, Matt attended several internationally acclaimed music festivals including New England Conservatory’s Boston GuitarFest and the Texas National Music Festival. In Texas, Matt has been awarded Top Prizes in the guitar competition three years in a row and was also a finalist in the first Lancaster International Guitar Competition in Pennsylvania. Participation and success at these festivals has given Matt the opportunity to perform in master classes for luminary artists including Eliot Fisk of NEC, Sharon Isbin of the Julliard School, and Marco Tamayo of the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

Matt finished his undergraduate degree at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in 2010. There, he was awarded merit scholarships, Dean’s List for academics, and was the recipient of a Peabody Career Development Grant. While still a student, Matt had the honor of performing alongside world-class organist and faculty member Donald Sutherland for the Port Deposit Concert Series in Maryland.

A native of Lancaster, PA, Matt’s introduction to the world of classical guitar was anything but ordinary. After what was to be a brief stint of lessons, a chance meeting with Cuban virtuoso Ernesto Tamayo quickly resulted in private instruction and a blossoming interest in the Spanish guitar. Currently, Matt teaches at several schools in the Bay Area and has also worked at Stanford University for their pre-college Music Institute. Aside from the classical guitar, Matt enjoys weight training, singing, and considers himself to be the biggest Led Zeppelin fan under 50.

Matt can perform everything from Classical to Spanish guitar and even Rock and Blues. He is available for corporate events, private parties, weddings, bar mitzvahs, festivals and more.
